FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can you join ICART if you do not have a background in cultural or arts management?

ICART, the school of cultural and arts management, is open to all candidates.
It is therefore not mandatory to have prior training in culture or the arts to join ICART.
Motivation and the construction of a clear professional project in the field of art and culture are the key elements required to enter the school.

Are you applying to the Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Mediation at ICART?
You can join ICART as long as you have completed your high school diploma (any specialization).
All the fundamentals—cinema, painting, photography, music, etc.—are reviewed in the first-year core curriculum, “Art and Culture”, of the Bachelor’s in Cultural Mediation.

Are you applying to the Expert Cycle (4th and 5th year, Specialized MBAs) at ICART?
It is preferable to have some knowledge of Art History or Cultural Mediation.
However, once again, ICART primarily evaluates your motivation and your professional project in the field of art and culture.
Whether you apply for the 4th or 5th year, ICART offers refresher courses in Art History and Cultural Mediation before each academic term begins.

What is a school of arts and cultural management, and how is it different from an art school?

A school of arts and cultural management trains professionals who are capable of managing, coordinating, and developing projects in the cultural and artistic sectors.

Programs in cultural mediation focus on acquiring skills in management, administration, strategy, marketing, communication, and the development of artistic and cultural projects.

Students in a cultural mediation school learn to work in a variety of environments, such as museums, theaters, galleries, festivals, public or private institutions, and cultural organizations.

Art schools, on the other hand, train artists, and focus on developing artistic and technical skills, with an emphasis on creation and artistic expression.

What are the requirements for studying abroad during the ICART Cultural Mediation program?

ICART encourages students to go abroad during their five years of study.

Whether for an internship or a study semester, to go abroad a student must:

  • have a minimum overall average of 12/20
  • provide proof of a minimum TOEIC or TOEFL score (as specified by the academic and international teams)

Today, one out of three ICART students chooses to complement their Cultural Mediation training with an international experience. Highly educational, this experience is a real boost for your career!

What are the internship periods during the Cultural Mediation program at ICART?

Internship periods vary depending on the year of study at ICART, allowing Cultural Mediation students to gain progressive professional experience throughout their academic journey.

  • 1st year: 2-month internship between April and June
  • 2nd year: 4-month internship between November and March
  • 3rd year: 4 to 5-month internship between September and January
  • 4th year: 5 to 6-month internship between February and July
  • 5th year: 6-month internship between April and December

Does ICART offer apprenticeship-based programs?

ICART does not offer apprenticeship programs.

Students complete 23 months of full-time internships over the 5 years of study, allowing them to build strong professional experience. Two 6-months internships are required in the 4th and 5th years.

What is a mid-year intake?

The mid-year intake allows students who have already started another program and wish to change direction without losing a full academic year to join ICART’s Cultural Mediation school.

Is it possible to speak with students before joining ICART?

You can meet ICART students during the Open House events.

Check the dates of the upcoming sessions.
